Music Reviews, Game Reviews, Movie Reviews and more!

I just found a site that I wish I would have found before I started buying X-mas gifts. The site is called EverHYPE and is for Pop Music Reviews, but it is so much more than that. You can read and give reviews on Movies, Games as well as the music reviews. It is setup like a social networking site, in that you can create your own profile and have friends, with one little twist, the other users can rate you and you’re HYPEs. Your user rating can go from a “novice” to “God Like”. The more ratings and discussions you have the better your score is.

Do you love to talk with friends about movies you just watched or games you just played? Do you like to start or join conversations about music that you like or dislike? If you said yes, then I recommend going over and checking it out. The site has a great design and is very user friendly.

So, why did I say that I wish I had found this earlier? We got a game for our Wii that just isn’t up to my standards (AMF Bowling: Pinbusters), clearly if I would have done a little more research on a site like this, I would have know that. It got a 53% on EverHYPE, but I think it is worse than that. That's whats great about this, like it or dislike it, you can give the world your opinion.

I would hope that companies are on these sites as well, learning and studying how to better their products.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR INFORMATION CONTACT:
November 24, 2008 Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Marco Villarreal
USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force - Laredo Division (956) 790-1784;
USMS Headquarters Public Affairs (202) 307-9065

SUSPECTED MURDERER ADDED TO U.S. MARSHALS 15 MOST WANTED FUGITIVE LIST

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Marshals announced today the addition of Joseph Allen Garcia to the service’s 15 Most Wanted fugitive list. Garcia is wanted in Texas on charges of murder, manslaughter, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to appear. He is also wanted on a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

In December 2003, Garcia and two associates allegedly traveled to a residence in Laredo, Texas, with the intent of provoking a fight with another group of young men. Upon arriving at the residence, Garcia reportedly pulled out an AK-47 assault rifle and opened fire into the group, killing 18-year-old Mario Gonzalez and wounding three others. Authorities arrested Garcia the day after the murder, but he was out on bond within weeks.

Garcia was into trouble again by August 2004, when he allegedly shot and wounded a young man after an argument over stereo speakers. Garcia was arrested for attempted murder and again posted bond. He was later indicted for murder when the young man died from his wounds. Four months later in December 2004, authorities arrested Garcia for possession of drugs. He posted bond and apparently decided to try life on the run. Garcia was scheduled to appear in court in March 2005, but he was a no-show and authorities have been looking for him ever since.

In January 2006, the Laredo Police Department and the Webb County Sheriff’s Department contacted the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force – Laredo Division for assistance in locating and apprehending Garcia. He was classified as a U.S. Marshals Major Case until being upgraded today to the 15 Most Wanted.

“Garcia has displayed a propensity for violence and continues to live a life of crime. Capturing him is one of our highest priorities,” said Director John F. Clark of the U.S. Marshals Service. “We will use all available resources to bring this violent criminal to justice.”

Authorities suspect Garcia is a member of the Zetas, the enforcers for the Mexican Gulf Cartel. Garcia also is known to be associated with the Mexican mafia and is believed to be involved in the drug trade. He is likely living in Mexico and making frequent crossings into California and Texas.

Garcia is a 21-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He has scars on his left eye, chest and right ankle.

A $25,000 reward is offered for information leading directly to Garcia’s arrest. Garcia and his associates are known to be armed and extremely violent. If you have information about Joseph Allen Garcia’s whereabouts, immediately contact your nearest U.S. Marshals office or call the Marshals 24-hour hotline at 1-800-336-0102.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. Annually, U.S. Marshals arrest more federal fugitives and serve more federal warrants than all other federal agencies combined. For more information on USMS 15 Most Wanted fugitives and USMS Major Cases, go to http://www.usmarshals.gov/.

Reporter vs Expert - Why Most Bloggers Are Stuck Reporting

This is a guest post by Yaro Starak

There are basically two types of bloggers in the world - reporters and experts - and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it’s hard for reporters to become experts, but it’s easy for experts to report).

If you have ever taken an Internet marketing course or attended a seminar specifically for beginners, you have probably heard about the two different methodologies. Whenever the business model is based on content, and if you blog for money then the model is based on content, people are taught to either start as reporters, or if possible step up as experts.

I’ll be frank; you want to be the expert.

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven’t established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it’s easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc… experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something - experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There’s nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it’s a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts - there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don’t Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a “guru” (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry - the Internet marketing industry - not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it’s next to impossible to succeed.

Even people, who enjoy marginal success, say for example growing an email list of 1,000 people, then go out and launch a product about how to grow an email list of 1,000 people. Now I have no problems with that, I think it’s fine to teach beginners and leverage whatever achievements you have, the problem is that people gravitate to the same niche - Internet marketing - and rarely have any key points of differentiation.

How many products out there do you know of that all claim to teach the same things - email marketing, SEO, pay per click, affiliate marketing, and all the sub-niches that fall under the category of Internet marketing. It’s a saturated market, yet when you see your teachers and other gurus making money teaching others how to make money (and let’s face it - making money as a subject is one of the most compelling) - your natural inclination is to follow in their footsteps.

If the key is to become an expert and you haven’t spent the last 5-10 years making money online, I suggest you look for another niche to establish expertise in.

Report on Your Process, Not Others

The secret to progress from reporter to expert is not to focus on other experts and instead report on your own journey. When you are learning how to do something and implementing things day by day, or studying other people’s work, you need to take your process and what you do as a result of what you learn, and use it as content for your blog.

It’s okay to talk about experts when you learn something from them, but always relate it to what you are doing. If you learn a technique from an expert it’s fine to state you learned it from them (and affiliate link to their product too!) but you should then take that technique, apply it to what you are doing and then report back YOUR results, not there’s. Frame things using your opinion - your stories - and don’t regurgitate what the expert said. The key is differentiation and personality, not replication.

Expertise comes from doing things most people don’t do and then talking about it. If you do this often enough you wake up one day as an expert, possibly without even realizing how it happened, simply because you were so good at reporting what you did.

You Are Already An Expert

Most people fail to become experts (or perceived as experts) because they don’t leverage what they already know. Every person who lives a life learns things as they go, takes action every day and knows something about something. The reason why they never become an expert is because they choose not to (which is fine for some, not everyone wants to be an expert), but if your goal is to blog your way to expertise and leave the world of reporting behind you have to start teaching and doing so by leveraging real experience.

Experience can come from what you do today and what you have done previously; you just need to take enough steps to demonstrate what you already know and what you are presently learning along your journey. I know so many people in my life, who are experts simply by virtue of the life they have lived, yet they are so insecure about what they know, they never commit their knowledge to words for fear of…well fear.

Blogs and the Web in general, are amazing resources when you leverage them as a communication tool to spread your expertise because of the sheer scope of people they can reach. If all you ever do is talk to people in person and share your experience using limited communication mediums, you haven’t much hope of becoming an expert. Take what you know and show other people through blogging, and you might be surprised how people change their perception of you in time.

Reporting Is A Stepping Stone

If your previous experience and expertise is from an area you want to leave behind or you are starting from “scratch”, then reporting is the path you must walk, at least for the short term.

Reporting is a lot of fun. Interviewing experts, talking about what other people are doing and just being part of a community is not a bad way to blog. In many cases people make a career of reporting (journalism is about just that), but if you truly want success and exponential results, at some point you will have to stand up and proclaim yourself as someone unusually good at something and then proceed to demonstrate it over and over again.

Have patience and focus on what you do to learn and then translate that experience into lessons for others, and remember, it’s okay to be a big fish in a small pond, that’s all most experts really are.

Rick Astley for Governor of IL

I'm going to file this one under a big WTF? I would like to give you a direct quote from the Rick Astley website,

Last week, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested on charges of
corruption and the Attorney General has requested the Supreme Court strip him of
his powers. After the arrest, RedEye, a major newspaper in Chicago, decided to
engage the people of Illinois through its newspaper and social media platforms
asking them who they would like to see as their next Governor. So far the
results are showing that Rick Astley overwhelmingly the people's favourite to
take the post. Rick has become somewhat of a hero in the United States over the
last 12 months and his appearance at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade touched
millions of Americans. The people of Illinois at least feel Rick would 'Never
let his voters down'.

In tune with its readers, RedEye contacted Rick's manager, Tops Henderson
to ask Rick if he would consider taking the post. Rick has issued the following
statement:

'I am so honoured and very excited to be put forward for the post of
Governor of Illinois. I think I could do a good job and bring a fresh
perspective to the great state and it's politics.'
Does this guy not realize what a joke he is? When you have been associated with an Internet meme, "Rick-rolled", you think you would get a clue! OK, so I know that was kind of lame so hear is the real meaning for those of you who have never been "Rick-rolled".

Oh man, I just couldn't help myself, so you can really go see it on Wikipedia here.

Affiliate Publishing like the Pros do it

I have been noticing that a lot of the top money bloggers, or sometimes referred to as “super affiliates” use Pepperjam Networks Affiliate Programs. I always think it is best to watch and learn from those who are already where you want to be. I have been in association with a few others, but I have not had a chance to utilize Pepperjam as an affiliate. I decided to go over and check them out.

Right from the start it is promising that they have been recognized by Inc. Magazine for the second year in a row as One of America’s Fastest Growing Companies. With that kind of growth, you know they are doing something right. Pepperjam offers professional consultation and management services in the areas of search-engine marketing, affiliate marketing, and online media planning and management. Among other accomplishments I see on their website is recognition as one the top 10 SEO firms in the United States, along with Google and Yahoo search marketing qualifications.

Pepperjam Network offers a quick and easy way to get started in affiliate marketing with the pepperjamADS™, among the other normal “creatives” such as links, product feeds and banners. PepperjamADS™ are very similar to the type of widget that you would normally think of with Google contextual ads.

Pepperjam Network is completely free to join and has many tutorials if you are just getting started. OK, enough talking I am going to actually sign up now and give it shot! Yes, I realize that I should probably have waited until I actually sign up and have an affiliate link for sending you all over their, but I am sure I will have a future post or two.

Megan Hauserman vs Sharon Osbourne

I was just reading this story over at TMZ. Apparently Megan got a beat down from Sharon after saying "Sharon is only famous for managing a brain dead rock star." How embarrassing must it be to get taken out by an Osbourne. We all know who Sharon is, but who is Megan Hauserman? Follow the link to Wikipedia if you really want to know. TMZ has some of the aftermath video, but I have not seen any of the fight video.

Debt Consolidation for the new year

It’s time to start thinking about those New Year’s resolutions.

So, I started thinking about what I really need to do this year and to organize my life in general. Let’s see, I need to go back to them gym and get in shape, finish school, find a good job, repair my credit, try and consolidate my debts and get them paid off, get more traffic to my blog and those would just get me started. Then I began to try and list them in order of priority. One of the top ones to make my life easier would have to definitely be debt consolidation. I am not saying that I am completely buried in it, but like most Americans I probably have around $10,000 or so. I have to admit that some of which is lingering credit card debt from when I was in my early twenties. If I would have only known then, what I know now! So, you guessed it, I bumped that up to the top of the list and went to work on seeking out options.

Why am I writing all of this you might ask? Well, as always I like to share my findings and do the research so you don’t have to.

Here is what I found. I found this website, fastdebtfreedomnow.com. Their debt consolidation alternative can help you get out from under that crushing debt. I just got started, so I will let you know more of the outcome next year. Here are some of the things that they can do for you and me.

• Reduce Balances up to 50% - Save Thousands!
• Have One Easy, Low Monthly Payment
• Avoid Bankruptcy
• No Credit Checks - Bad Credit OK
• Home Ownership Not Required
• Consolidate Debt Payments
• Debt Free in as Little as 12-30 Months

I hope this can be of use to you as well.

Cool site of the day

Today's cool site recommendation is Woot.com. Today is the first day that I actually found this site and it is something that I will definitely keep an eye on. So, what is Woot?

Woot.com is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap... We sell one item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central time when it is replaced. However, each item we sell is in stock and typically ships within 2-3 business days.

Under the same concept they also have shirt.woot and wine.woot. I think I am going to be a big fan!

Protect Your Children

My heart aches every day just thinking about how hard it is to protect your children in these times. I would like to introduce you to some resources and websites to get to know.

Highlighted:

Project Safe Childhood

Project Safe Childhood (PSC) is a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 that aims to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. The threat of sexual predators soliciting children for physical sexual contact is well-known and serious; the danger of perpetrators who produce, distribute, and possess child pornography is equally dramatic and disturbing.

The Department of Justice is committed to the safety and well-being of every child and has placed a high priority on combating sexual exploitation of minors. Through a network of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and advocacy organizations, PSC coordinates efforts to protect our children by investigating and prosecuting online sexual predators.

PSC is implemented through a partnership of U.S. Attorneys; Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces; federal partners, including the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service; advocacy organizations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children; and state and local law enforcement officials in each U.S. Attorney’s district.

Bernard Madoff pulling a Ponzi scheme

Anybody else wondering wtf a Ponzi scheme is?

If you don't even know what I am referring to, then you may not be up on today's buzz. Of course, that may be what you are here for.

Bernard L. Madoff, the founder of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities and a former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market, was arrested Thursday by FBI agents and charged with a $50-billion criminal securities fraud, also being referred to as a Ponzi scheme.

After a quick search of wikipedia, here is what I found;

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that involves promising or paying abnormally high returns ("profits") to investors out of the money paid in by subsequent investors, rather than from net revenues generated by any real business. It is named after Charles Ponzi.

Now your in the know!

Christmas Cards

If you’re anything like me you are a last minute Christmas shopper and card sender.

I started thinking today that I may want to get started on that, at least my out of town family. After much searching of the Internet for ideas, I thought that Digital Photo Cards are the way to go! I recommend ChristmasCardsDirect.com. They have over 200 holiday cards to choose from. They also have digital photo cards, which is what I am doing. It looks like some new photo cards have been added for the holidays and the price is great, especially with the overall quality of the cards. All you need to do is choose your digital photo card, your quantity, and then next you will upload your chosen photo, arrange it to your liking and add one of the greetings along with a custom message. If you are a business you can add a logo. They will even add a personalized envelope imprint. I expect to get many compliments this year on how good the family Christmas card looks! (See Below)

Don’t just take my word for it, head on over to ChristmasCardsDirect.com with the link above and check it for yourself. You can tell them that I sent you. I just threw that in because I was starting to sound like a commercial, they will just say “who”. No, I am not sending this out. This for demonstration purposes only.

Caylee Anthony found?

The body of a small child was found in a wooded area near the Anthony house in Orlando. The body was discovered by a meter reader this morning in an area that was previously under water and only about 6o feet off the roadway. The area is about a 5 minute walk from the Anthony house. It was said that he found a bag in the woods and it had a skull inside. Sheriff Kevin Beary held his first news conference a few moments ago, but gave little information. It is still raining here in Orlando and they are awaiting the medical examiner and for the rain to let up before removing the remains. Once removed the will be sent to the FBI for DNA analysis.

I know that the Anthony family, all of us here in the Orlando area and across the states will be glad to have a end to this story, although it may not be the one that we all have hoped for. I am sure that more information will be released throughout the day and over the next few days.

10 Blog Traffic Tips

This is a guest post by Yaro Starak.

In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else''s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that''s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers. Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers.

These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn''t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don''t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that''s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you''ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people''s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger''s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it''s sort of like your blog telling someone else''s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it''s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it''s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn''t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it''s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box". You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I''ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won''t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

Illinois Governer Rod Blagojevich arrested

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich taken into federal custody on charges of seeking bribes in exchange for an appointment to the Senate along with other other allegations that I would say sounds almost like Mob style governing. It seems like a slip back to the past for Illinois. Other accusations mentioned are; putting the squeeze on the CEO of a children's hospital, the Chicago Tribune and basically anyone else he could extort money from. It will be interesting to see who else gets the shakedown as a result of this.

Laura Bush killed a guy on the Family Guy

One of the popular searches this morning is "Laura Bush killed a guy", this is due the Family Guy episode below. Humor or not? Personally I think not. It is one thing to make ethnic jokes and stereotypes, but to humor a specific incident that probably devastated the lives of two families and more, I really didn't think was funny. Is it true? Apparently, yes it is. This buzz around the net is that she had an accident when she was 17 that led to the death of a fellow high school student. No charges where filled in the case though.

I said my opinion, watch the clip and see what you think.

I grabbed this information from a post on ars technica and wanted to make sure I spread the word to my readers.

A new Trojan (Trojan.PWS.ChromeInject.A) has been identified that masks itself as a Greasemonkey add on for Firefox.

bitdefender says "It drops an executable file (which is a Firefox 3 plugin) and a JavaScript file (detected by Bitdefender as: Trojan.PWS.ChromeInject.A) into the Firefox plugins and chrome folders respectively. It filters the URLs within the Mozilla Firefox browser and whenever encounter the following addresses opened in the Firefox browser it captures the login credentials".

Recession announced by National Bureau of Economic Research

So the National Bureau of Economic Research decided it would make an official statement that we are in fact in a recession. Well duh, tell me something I didn't know. Now that is over I guess I can move onto finding a job in this recession. My previous industry is already hit hard and I'm afraid it is just going to get worse. They said it started back in December of 07, so is the end in sight? Probably not for some time to come yet.

Go read more about it with an article CNN released today or the official press release from NBER.

I really do need a job if you know of anything in the Orlando, FL area. No I'm not working for the mouse either!
